From: John Williams

We last communicated in early 2004.  I have been tidying up
some loose ends in my family tree and I had a look at your website
today.  I see that you have not included the above Thomas as one of the children of Matthew and Sarah (nee Dobson) - submitted by Irene Marlborough.  I found the bpt of Thomas some years ago in the Durham RO.  He was bpt on 7 Oct 1739  and born on 9 Sep 1739 to Matthew & Sarah Westmorland of Helmington.  My notes say I found it on MF42/184 for St Giles, Durham.  However in my family tree programme for some reason I put Brancepeth - which is the parish in which Helmington Row is situated.  Do you have any information which could clear up the matter?

Kind regards,
John Williams

NOTE:  Thomas has now been added as a child of Matthew & Sarah [MLI]

Sarah who married Ralph Waggott in 1787.  They were my gggg grandparents.  As regards her sibling Matthew (1767) he might well have been the father of George (1793).  The parish record (extraction on Family Search) seems to indicate that the mother was an unmarried Frances Stalker.  However given that many records in NBL at the time gave the maiden names of mothers that might have been a misunderstanding on the part of the transcriber.

Kind regards,
